Marking another birthday

My little mommy would have been 85 today. I unpacked some of my favorite pictures this weekend, of her teaching me to swim, of her when she was young in Canada, of her with her mother, with my sister. of her and my dad in Hawaii. She was a really beautiful woman in so many different ways.

I love how you use flower photos for your posts about your mom. Lilacs and peonies are so ladylike and beautiful - for me they bring back a lot of my own memories that I think might help me understand your mom a little better.

My mom's favorite flowers included lilac and peonies. I was going to try and plant a lilac in the yard yesterday for her birthday, but settled for unpacking her crystal and china, instead. My mom was very ladylike. She tried to teach me, but it didn't stick. ;)
